Tanja fell over an advert with an original Alfa Romeo show room cabinet, from a defunct dealership. The grainy pictures in the ad was enough to peak my interest, but at the same didn’t look that interesting.
I coupled the trailer to the car, and went out to take a closer look, expecting to find a sub one metre high plastic advert cabinet.
Was I in for a pleasant surprise!

The seller opened the barndoors, and there stood this huge, more than two metre high cabinet. It’s very well built, with hidden neon lighting, that follows its rounded contours. The thick glass shelves are held by brass screws, that sit in brass nuts, pressed into the cabinet sides.
It wasn’t in pristine condition, but the loose parts were easily assembled when I got down to fixing it. The layer of dust and bird droppings came off with a moist cloth.

It has a few scratches, but not more than what can be called patina. Somehow it gives it some character and charm.

I have left the neon lighting as is, and have added a 5 metre 900 lux light-strip, that will be it’s primary means of illumination, since the old neon lights use a lot more than the LED’s 2 watts.

All in all I’m very glad with the result. It cleaned up beautifully, and looks amazing in the workshop.

Of cause an Alfa Romeo needs a set of numberplates, so a set I got at local fleemarket had to be added 😊
You can get you own pristine one here. However I only payed a fraction of that price for mine 😬
