A work related trip to Middelfart (and yes, that is the actual name of the town).

Three times a year we are all rounded up at work, and this time our two day summer event was held in the costal town of “Middelfart”.
A name that even the most serious foreign visitor has a hard time not smiling at.

Don’t worry, we Danes are used to it ☺️

We stayed at Hotel Melfarhus, that is located close to the harbour.

The hotel was OK, but they had some issues with the “selfservice”, and I ended up getting an old school RFID keycard, because they couldn’t get my invitation to work. The app said I was booked as well as my stay had been cancelled, so it couldn’t give me access.

So do you turn left or right, if you have room 204 or 205?

I got up very early the next day, and took a stroll past the harbour, and down a path by the beach. I was completely alone, and the sea was so calm, it looked like a mirror.

My inner history nerd enjoyed the site of this old sea mine.
Quite a lot of these washed up on the Danish beaches after the end of the second world war. Some of them were turned into collection boxes for those who had lost a family member at sea.

This one is an old German EMC I mine, designed in 1924. EMC was short for “Einheitsminen C”
